I just got the Boston 12 and love them (not sure if you're tried them yet) I haven't tried the previous versions to compare, but I loved them enough to buy a 2nd pair! My only complaint is the tongue is a little wonky/flappy, but once I got it locked down it didn't move and I was good for my run
My one son buys family subscriptions to RUclips, Spotify and probably more stuff so I've been spared advertisements. Lucky me.
That's awesome though. It's very thoughtful. My inlaws use ours too
Sure you had a long day but if the good Lord made the earth spin just a little bit slower our days would be 25 hours long. A long day everyday day. I'm used to the 24 spin by now.
Yeah. I think I am going to take the 24hr day too!! 😉
It froze... Nooooo!
It did?!? I was there watching the whole thing premiere and it did not happen for me?
I am so excited. Training for my first marathon. Atlantic City baby!! Here we go!!!
This is such a nice marathon to be a first ever ☺️ you chose nicely! I hope we get nice weather for full enjoyment!!
Can’t wait for mine to arrive!!!
Let me know what you think!
So cool!!! Love your hair like that 😍
It was so very frizzy this day. Haha
Great job with the pacing! I skipped my run this morning thinking that an extra hour of sleep would do more good right now. I'm currently watching what's going on outside my window, thinking about whether to try to run before or after the thunderstorm that we might or might not get this afternoon... normal summer stuff in other words.
I ran this morning right after the storm... so I totally understand my friend!! I hope you are able to get out but Don't go out if there's lightning.
@@IRunThings Safety first! I don't mind a little bit of rain but I don't venture far if it looks like something serious is brewing, ready to make a dash for home if needed.
@largeeddie I do the same. I have been known to run 1 mile loops around the house. It's super boring but it's also super safe
Well done, Suzie! It's great to see that things are going more smoothly and you're getting in some really solid runs. The east coast got a little bit of a break from summer misery in mid August, but down here at least we're back in the broiler now. It seems like I've seen more good stuff from you on Strava this week and I hope it's still looking good.
I love a good bit of tech! Seems like a decent gimbal Suzie. Great for what us guys film. 😎🤘
It's definitely for sports. 🙂 Great to see you here Ben!
Are there multiple user logins?
Mine has two. But mine is old. They might have changed this. I'm not sure
Cool ad.
I love these shoes. It was easy to do
I haven't had a good run in the rain for a while. I'm going to have to plan that out. I'm glad it didn't rain during my race this weekend though. That would have been a terrible time.
I am excited to watch your video about it!! The pictures from Instagram looked badass. 😍
@@IRunThings I was a little disappointed I didn't get a picture coming up from the dunk wall but that's fine. I'm hoping to get the video up soon.
@@WVRunningDon you survived the wall, the picture is just a picture. It sounds like it was epic nonetheless
That's a really nice route you got there..I wish I can find a road/trail to run...smh
Yeah. It's a great path and it's always quote busy. I am very fortunate that I open my door and I can run miles on end. That path is 120 miles long
@@IRunThings That's awesome...120 miles long...sheesh!!😯
@@TheBsheep yeah it's pretty sweet
I agree, at least 1 UCan per hour. On my long run, I try to get 60 grams of carbs per hour. 1/3 from a UCan, 1/3 from Skratch carb drink (25g per flask and 1 flask per hour), and 1/3 from a food source like a chew, bar, etc. For me, the skratch chews taste the best and after that, the cliff blocks. But I understand some people don’t like the texture. Your runs are looking great Susie! 😀👍🏼❤️🌈🏃🏻♀️
I have never used Skratch and a lot of people are recommending it lately. I guess ita my turn to give it a try!! I don't know that i will be able to consume 60 grams an hour moving forward... The times when I've had 60 grams of carbs I haven't done well in races. And by not done well I mean I ran slower. I have run faster taking 40 grams an hour, and i ran my fastest marathon ever with 100grams of carbs during the whole Marathon ( i took 3 gels and a banana). Why? I don't know. It seems counterintuitive to what everyone is saying. But that is my experience. 🙂
@@IRunThings. Experience trumps anyone else’s advice. Listen to your gut, literally! 😉 I’m a heavier runner than you, so that’s probably why my body can do 60. Plus Texas heat, I sweat so much out. And I’m diabetic and I need to keep the energy consistent. I prefer skratch to tailwind because of the lower sugar. I’m sure you’d like either. Good luck! 😀
@@vanessamartinez4917 thanks Vanessa 😊 I have tried Tailwind. I liked the flavor but it didn't do much for me in terms of performance. But then again more seems to be more and not better for me.
@@IRunThings If what you’re doing works for you, then keep at it. We women who have lived a few decades or so know our bodies fairly well. 😉
Oh poppet, so sorry to hear that you have had medical issues but great following video to cheer us up. Loved the S&C and 15 miles in the Bank to withdraw on race day. X
Thanks!! And yeah it was a good week!
How was Madrid and your race? Finished every step of the Camino de Santiago and only got lost once. Loved wine at dinner every day and all the wonderful Pilgrams I encountered on the way. Good luck with your training.
This is awesome. When did you do the Camino? Was this recent? And did you do the Camino Frances?
@@IRunThings I did the French Way. I started on June 1st and finished on the 11th of July. It was such a great experience.
@@rayw6359 that's kind of when we would do it. Was it chilly any of the early mornings?
@@IRunThings Weather was great. Two misty days, not real rain. A few days in the low 80's and a good number of overcast days with temps in the mid 70's. Great walking weather in general. On chilly days I wore a long sleeve Merino wool shirt with a light jacket. The jacket usually came off with a an hour or two. Invest in Merino wool long and short sleeve shirts, underwear and socks. Less laundry to do. You can wear that stuff for days and not smell at all. Go for it!!!
People have spent a combined 9.5 years watching your videos if i did my calculations correctly assuming folks only watched 5 minutes of each video. FYI.
I never thought of doing this math. It's kind of overwhelming to think about it. Thanks for the love Steve. Love back ❤
So progressive.
Thank you!!! It was a good run
I love Saucony!
Me too!
Thank you so much! This was a lot of help!
I am glad it was!!!
Ha.
Ha. 🙂
Getting caught up. This is a great QnA.
Thank H. ♥️ I appreciate YOU
Que makina te tenía perdida la pista que bien vas me alegro ❤
Bueno. Podrian ir mejor pero no me Quijote. Tu tampoco vas mal. De hecho, vas muy bien
😮😮😮😮❤
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Suzie- Congratulations on your subscribers and views. This summer ( I’m in NJ) has been incredibly hot and humid with no breaks. Runs have felt heavy and slow. Hoping for a faster fall.
You will run faster in the fall. I could already notice the difference this morning with 65F. And thanks!!! Onwards to 5k subs!!
Trying incorporating co2 tolerance training. Co2 tolerance training I like to do is lie down and follow a video, where you breath through your diaphragm and then hold your breath 50% of your max breath hold then you diaphragm breath again but the time is shorter and then hold again for the same time and you keep doing it until all breath holds are done then it has a max breath hold at the end. Just such co2 tolerance training 30 seconds breath holds it’s with a woman. Really helpful video I can hold my breath for 1 min 45 seconds now and really made me more relaxed when running so heart rate much lower
I do it 2 times a week with at least 1 day preferably 2 days rest in between before doing it again
Congratulations on the subscriber and view count milestone. I've had a few rough weeks as far as having time to train anyway. I'm starting something different next week since my kids are back in school starting tomorrow. That means less time running on my feet and more time running around in the car.
I totally hear you. It's a falacy that we all have the same 24hrs. The days have 24hrs, but some of us have a lot of those hours filled with other must do tasks. I saw you are doing a spartan race in Instagram though??? I am super impressed
@@IRunThings Thanks Suzie. I had two races I could do that weekend and asked Stacy to pick one. She said do the Spartan. OK. Which one? She said do the half marathon. You can go that far. So here I am only a few days away from the West Virginia Beast. Hahaha!!!
@WVRunningDon you will be fine. You always seem to have a good level of fitness anyway. It's very exciting 😀. I hope there is some footage
@@IRunThings There will be. I just don't know when it will get online. 😁
Something you say in this video hit me. And it was the comment that you made about the shingles. When I was in my forties, I got shingles inside one of my eyes. After that, from time to time, I get exactly all the symptoms that you mentioned. But I feel like I am coming down with something, and I don't know what it is. Thanks for sharing. I might have an answer now.
I am really sorry you got it too. It's the worst thing ever. I'd rather give birth 5 times in a row. But yes I went to the hospital to see how badly it had affected my eye and the doctor said with how aggressive it was I was probably going to get post hermetic neuralgia for the rest of my life. I just forget about it and I don't put 2 and 2 together till I get my left eye to bother me. Then I am like... crap again? Supposedly it gets milder and milder every time. But it's sort of like a mild flu that lingers for a few days.
@IRunThings Im sorry to hear that, I never knew it could be so bad . The doctor just prescribed me an eye cream. He mentioned that maybe my immune system was really low, and that was why I got it before my 50s. All these years, I thought I was getting a cold that it was lingering, waiting to happen.
@agarleetavarez3768 they prescribed drops for me and an antiviral in pill for. They didn't do anything. I was in so much pain
@IRunThings I'm so sorry that you have been through that. No wonder you would rather give birth 5 times in a row. I looked up post hermetic neuralgia, and that is horrible. I hope that over time, it gets better 🙏.
Love it! I tried to make a Spanish song when I was a kid… Cuando tu Baila conmigo… estoy enomorado… I don’t think it’s actually correct and I could never get any other lines… but hey I tried! 🤷♂️ 😂
You are incredible!! What prompted you to trying to write a song in Spanish? I'm curious.
@@IRunThings love of course! And…. My staff would have La Mega on everything morning and there’d be Spanish music just playing! I was always so thankful for it because if not they’d play rap n hip hop and to be honest that’s not my first choice for music… especially at 6am! 😂
Do you do sports massages?
I haven't had one in 6 years. I am pretty partial to them. I have had a few in my life and I don't love them.... probably the only runner who doesn't. I am weird that way
For fueling, I like UCAN gels. For your long runs have you tried real food, for example a banana or apple sauce?
I have tried both. I don't like apple sauce and it doesn't do much for me. Bananas do but they are cumbersome to bring on my person. I love when they give them on course
I can totally relate! I will be 50 in a little over a week! I too have a child that is in college awaiting a room in the residence hall! All the things! And I’m training for an ultra marathon in November! Just give yourself some grace! You are doing great!
Omg!!! Welcome to the community!! Which ultra are you running?
I know this song! It’s my baby’s favorite! She’d sing Rock me mama! That Darius Trucker version is great! Old Crow Medicine is alright too
It's a version??? I am going to have to check Old Crow Medicine... I'll report back
@@IRunThings their version is more mellow… not really a running tempo… lol
@@Deadbuck73 yeah. I Like DR'S version better
I would urge you to not focus too much on VO2Max from the watch (good too look at data but it is not always trustworthy). The other stuff you talk about like not being able to complete long runs, yes, those are good indicators, but the watch is fallible. Mine fluctuates 4 points fairly often (it's even fluctuated like 6+ points going down to like 54 and as high as 62. I'm sitting at 59 now but I ran my fastest marathon when it was like 57 🤷♀ - the things I pay attention to are resting heart rate and HRV. But resting heart rate shows if you are not recovering - it is stays higher). I was thinking about you yesterday on my run - and while I'm not a coach, I have been through a lot of different plans and had coaches before (had one I paid for back in 2017 - ultimately I improved more without one), I think that if you want to get faster, it is the weekly aerobic volume you are putting in. It's great that you are doing those treadmill hikes - any additional amount of time you can put into the week where you get your HR up will help. I do wonder if this plan is just too low on mileage. I did not see marked improvement in my performances until I routinely hit 40+ miles per week (that is when I finally did BQ, I peaked at 50-something miles). Some people don't need that but they are often genetically gifted runners. Speed work like strides is definitely important as we age (very important), too.
I agree with all these assessments. :) Yes I think it was too low on miles, but I already upped the mileage last week and plan on running more miles than what the plan calls for. basically I am keeping the long run with the miles at MP, and then upping every run. And getting rid of the threshold. I hate thresholds and I've always done better in races without them. I think they are the kind of run that I dont recover from fast enough. I didn't do it last week (did intervals instead) and my long run was tough, but I did it.
@@IRunThings Yeah, thresholds can work but you can get away without them just doing more Z1/Z2 volume and some high end speed work. I wouldn't worry about adding tempo/threshold until you get up to at least 40 miles per week. Then it might make sense (but TBH, I would probably put more effort into getting to 50 mpw before I would worry about adding tempo).
@@littlerunner4505 so I wholeheartedly agree with this! 🙂
Dear Suzie your not a 50 years old woman. you are a 50 year young woman. :) :)
Of course!!! 😂 THANKS for being so kind❤
Fantastic run, Suzie! The summer heat and humidity is no joke and you did an amazing job getting over 20 miles in those conditions. You've got some big goals ahead of you and I think it was a really smart call not totally selling out for another lap or two and possibly compromising your training. I hope it didn't take too long to recover. (Btw I watched this last weekend but I've been loopy myself lately and never left a comment for you.)
I appreciate you even more because you came back and commented after more than a week 🥰. I hope you are doing ok and being loopy is just an expression you are using but not literal. Hugs M.E.!!
Great stuff, Suzie! I knew some of this from having seen so many of your videos but a lot of the details were new to me. And I think that trying to find out what works for us is the one thing all runners have in common.😄
Yeah. I ran with Ucan this weekend and my 16 mile long run with 6 at marathon pace went reasonably well. I think I could have used a 3rd gel but I didn't bonk at all. It's just interesting it's changed over time
I’m also in NJ and post-menopausal, and if it weren’t for run/walk, I would not be able to run at all in the summer because I overheat so easily which can leave me feeling awful for the rest of the day. This summer has been terrible. I’m looking forward to cooler weather. You should make a video of running the seven mile beach around Avalon and Stone Harbor. It’s so pretty and the sand is packed. Perfect for running at low tide when it hits early in the morning around sunrise.
I hear you... we need cooler days!!! I have to check 7 Mile Beach, I was actually thinking of running by the beach this incoming week, just to change scenery
Beautiful!! 😍
Thank you 😘😘😘😘
I think it would be a hair better if you left the Garmin Fenix on the table or replaced it with a watch more delicate.
Yeah. I agree.
Me encanta Mecano!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
A mi también. Sobretodo este elepé

Gracias mamá ❤
Great video 😊 thank you for sharing your experience!!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment
I would totally do a spartan or tough mudder with you!!! I’ve done the Mudderella & a Rugged Maniac & they’re so fun! My friends & I are doing a Ragnar relay next year. I love the Ucan gels!
I am aware of the Ragnar races but I'll have to check these other two! I think we are a little maxed out the first half of next year and going into the summer. Haha. But we should look at something in the fall
Thanks! 🎉😊 I will be running New York City Marathon this year 2024. Thank you for all the tips. Very helpful❤
Thanks so much!
Hello! How are you? I am David and I am from Colombia, I would like to know where I could register for the NY Half Marathon in 2025. Thank you very much!
If you go to nyrr.org you will find all of their races listed. There's a lottery so pay attention to when it opens. It tends to be around early November. Usually right after NYC Marathon. But that could change. Follow nyrr on Instagram, they will post there too.
Bonjour Suzie !😀 Thank you for sharing pieces of your life… You worked hard to reach your goal. Jeanne and me wish you the best for the next step.. 🌸🌺🌼
Merci beaucoyp mes amis!!!! 🥰🥰🥰
@@IRunThings Nous te souhaitons une bonne journée !☀️ Te deseamos un buen dia.☺️ We wish you a good day. 🌸
I used ucan and mixed with others too a little here and there. Just have to have in mind is to have them 30 minutes before you need them. That is what they recommend.
I am very excited to try Ucan. I hope it goes well. And yeah I was planning on alternating. That's what training should be for, so things are squared away hopefully for race day. Thanks for watching and posting 😀
